Sakura Mochi Latte
¥680Steamed milk poured over salted cherry-leaf syrup, finished with a pickled blossom. Sweet, faintly salty, gone by May.
Sakura Cafe is a small wooden tea house pouring hand-whisked Uji matcha, drip coffee and seasonal wagashi — plated to follow the turning of the year, from spring petals to winter oshiruko.
Three generations of the same family have stood behind this counter. We buy leaves from one farm in Uji, stone-mill our own matcha twice a week, and rewrite the menu four times a year — because sweetness, bitterness and warmth should all travel with the season.
Spring blossom, summer shaved ice, autumn chestnut, winter red bean. The menu turns with the weather, never around it.
Wagashi are shaped each morning. Matcha is whisked to order — never held, never pre-mixed, never rushed.
Eighteen seats, one counter, no screens. Cedar, paper and lamplight, with a garden view from the tatami corner.
A quiet corner of the city — eight seats at the counter, a tatami nook facing the small garden, and the smell of toasted tea drifting from the back room. Tap any photograph to enlarge.
Two minutes from the station on foot, tucked behind a maple tree. Eighteen seats, no reservations needed except for the tatami room.
