Manufacturer's Atelier · Lost-Wax Foundry

Where metal takes its shape.

Emerald Atelier is a workshop template for jewellery manufacturers and trade suppliers — casting, micro-setting, finishing and quality control told the way a bench journal tells it: stage by stage, honestly, with nothing airbrushed out.

Six stages, no shortcuts

Follow the route a commission takes through the workshop. Click any stage to jump — or simply scroll, and the rail keeps your place.

01

Wax & Model

Every piece begins as a model — hand-carved in jeweller's wax or printed in castable resin. This is the last moment a mistake is cheap, so proportions are checked against the drawing, the stone and the finger before anything else happens.

02

Invest & Burnout

The model is surrounded by refractory plaster inside a steel flask. Slow kiln burn-out removes the wax completely, leaving a precise negative cavity — the mould your metal will fill.

03

Cast & Clean

Molten alloy is drawn into the cavity by vacuum or centrifugal force, then quenched. The raw casting is cut from its tree, filed and sand-blasted before the first setting tool ever touches it.

04

Set & Micro-Set

Seats are cut with a burr, stones seated, and beads of metal raised over each girdle — by hand, under magnification. Micro-pavé is measured in stones per hour, not rings per day.

05

Finish & Plate

Graduated abrasives take the surface from file marks to mirror, then rhodium plating or deliberate oxidation gives the piece its final character. Edges are softened so the ring feels as good as it looks.

06

Inspect & Release

Claw tension, stone security, clasp function, surface finish and weight are checked against the written specification, then recorded against the batch. Only then does the piece reach the tray — or the parcel.

Quality Control

Checked twice, released once

Inspection is not the last stage — it is a written standard that runs through every stage. Each item carries a record of who set it, who finished it and who released it.

✓
Stone security

Every claw and bead checked under magnification; loose stones returned to the bench, not to the client.

✓
Setting integrity

Girdles seated evenly, no exposed edges, no adhesive where metal should hold.

✓
Surface & finish

Polish inspected under direct light from multiple angles; plating thickness confirmed.

✓
Batch records

Specification, materials and inspection results recorded per batch — auditable on request.

Collections

Built to be handled, not framed

Three workshop families — each with its own construction logic. Move your cursor across a card; the depth you feel is the depth the piece really has.

The Foundry Line gold rings

The Foundry Line

Solid, weighty cast pieces with visible metal structure. Plain bands, signet rings and cuffs built to be worn for decades.

The Micro-Set collection pavé rings

The Micro-Set

Pavé and micro-pavé surfaces where the stones, not the metal, carry the light. The slowest work on the bench — and the brightest.

The Solitaire Standard diamond rings

The Solitaire Standard

Four and six claw mountings engineered around light entry and stone security. The collection other jewellers copy.

Materials

Alloys, purity and patience

What goes into the crucible decides how a piece wears. We cast in the alloys below and disclose exactly what your piece is made of — always.

18k Yellow Gold

75% fine gold

Alloyed with silver and copper for warmth and working strength. The classic crucible pour, polished to mirror or satin.

BandsSolitaireSignet

18k White Gold

75% fine gold

Palladium or nickel family alloys, finished with rhodium plating for a bright, even white. Re-plating schedule disclosed at sale.

EngagementHaloPavé

Platinum 950

95% platinum

Dense, naturally white and rare. Develops a soft patina that many clients keep — but we can re-polish it back to mirror in an afternoon.

Gemstones

Described as they actually are

Gemmological descriptions only — colour, clarity, cut, treatment. No investment promises, no "guaranteed appreciation". Just stones you can see and papers you can keep.

Diamond

Graded against laboratory reports on request; cut quality shown, not claimed.

Sapphire

Colour judged in daylight and warm light; heat treatment always disclosed.

Emerald

Jardin celebrated as character; oiling status disclosed in writing.

Ruby

From rose to deep red; origin claims only when documented.

Sourcing

Where the material comes from matters

We buy metal and stones the way we would want to sell them — with a paper trail. Origin, treatment and chain of custody are recorded, never assumed.

Documented stones

Gemstone origin is recorded where the supplier provides it. Where a stone's history is unknown, we say so in writing rather than guess.

Recycled metal

Refined and recycled precious metal is available on request, with alloy content stated on every invoice and hallmark.

Disclosed treatments

Heat, oil, clarity enhancement — every treatment is disclosed. What you see is described, and what you buy is written down.

Nobody asks how long a stone took. They only ask how it came to glow like that.

Commission

A ring made to a drawing, a stone and a finger

Bespoke starts with a conversation, not a price list. Tell us what you have in mind — we will answer with a drawing, a wax model and a fixed quote before any metal is poured.

I

Drawing & Quote

A proportioned sketch and a written estimate, revised until the design is right.

II

Wax Approval

A hand-finished wax model you can hold and try on before we commit to metal.

III

Cast & Set

Lost-wax casting, stone setting and finishing on the bench, stage by stage.

IV

Inspect & Deliver

Final inspection, papers and a piece made to be worn every day for decades.

Every commission ships with its laboratory reports where applicable, a written alloy declaration and care notes. One resizing is included within the first year, and the workshop keeps your drawing and wax on file for future pieces.
