Cortina Valley · 1,860 m above sea level

Where the mountain
keeps its own time.

Fourteen hand-built timber cabins on the shoulder of the Cortina ridge — wood-fired saunas, private ski access and a kitchen that cooks whatever the valley gives us that morning.

The lodge

Four generations, one very stubborn family.

Our great-grandfather cut the first cabin from larch he felled on this slope in 1927. Almost a century later we still heat with the same wood, still draw water from the same spring, and still refuse to pave the road that climbs up to us.

What has changed is everything you will notice: geothermal floors, a cedar spa carved into the rock, and a kitchen run by three cooks who source within eleven kilometres.

  • Carbon-neutral since 2019 — geothermal, solar and one very busy wood stove
  • Only 14 cabins across 60 hectares — you will rarely meet another guest on the trail
  • Ski storage, boot dryers and a resident mountain guide in every season

What people say after four nights up here

1,284 reviews, 4.9 average, and a surprisingly large number of guests who come back the following year.

We came for the skiing and ended up barely leaving the spa. The family cooks, pours and guides — and by day three they know your coffee order. It is the only hotel I have ever rebooked from the dining table.

“The guide read the weather better than the forecast did, and turned us around an hour before the storm came in. That is what you pay for.”

“Be honest about the last 4 km of road — but the shuttle met us at the pass and the boot room was already warm.”
